haven’t made a pixel planet in a while!
astronomy club sent up a weather balloon w a gopro in it last friday. put in three packs of fruit snacks so they could have a giggle over eating fruit snacks that had been to space.
balloon went up into inner space, about 90,000 feet. came down right near the dinosaur park. a few physics teachers drive out to get it, crack it open on the way home to start watching the footage.
fruit snacks are missing.
multiple sources confirm that fruit snacks were put in balloon and sealed in with duct tape. physics teachers check entire balloon. no fruit snacks.
physics teachers watch footage. all 7 hours of it. right in the middle of footage, there are about 8 minutes of visual and audio static when balloon is in orbit. no other interference with balloon recorded.
conclusions: ???????
aliens stole yo fruit snacks
I love projects like Songbringer.
First, the game is badass. It oozes with style. In a weird (but good weird) sci-fi/fantasy setting you crash on a planet, head into a dungeon and pick up a sword in a way that puts Prince of Persia or Zelda memories right back into your brain (depending which side of the PC/console divide you were born on).
Second, it’s made by Wizard Fu and it’s just one guy making everything, including wearing wizard robes, I shit you not. The author, Nathanael Weiss, learned coding in school, but never thought he’d be an artist. When he decided to make his own video game though, he didn’t let the lack of art skill stop him. Instead, he decided to learn and added drawing to his coding and music skills.
The game already looked good by the time Nathaneal launched a Kickstarter campaign for it. Now, 2 years later, it’s even better. And since he pretty much learned to draw for this project as well as doing the game music and sound, it has its own unique audio-visual flavor. BAD. ASS.
There are so many more things to mention: development is streamed daily and is up to episode 548 by now (hell, he probably released a new video while I was writing this post), the levels are procedurally generated, but deterministic based on a 6-letter seed you type, there’s single player and co-op …
For now I’ll just wrap up saying the aim is to release the game this Summer (Steam, PS4, XB1), but you can already join me in playing the tasty alpha if you pre-order the game at the higher level. Or wait for release by following on Facebook or Twitter.
Imagine after all that has happened, the Traveler decides to leave us behind and go find a new planet. the darkness follows and wipes alot of guardians out. the remaining Guardians try to leave their destroyed earth behind in search of the traveler. without the Traveler, guardians can no longer be revived so they create machines in the shape of the traveler duer to their undying faith in the traveler and that machine continues to supply them with the light they need to survive.
Then as you finally find the traveler, you find that it has also raised a new army, and that army is made up of the long dead. the army kills your people with no second thoughts. the army does not question the motives, they just kill. they rip you apart and destroy every last legend you knew.
that is what destiny looks like from the perspective of the Fallen. or should i say
